WHAT’S THE WORD FOR YOU IN 2020?

By Keith Abraham

I’m in beautiful London today and it is a glorious, winter’s day. 3ºC is the top here today!

I want to share with you a little insight I got from a movie I watched on the plane on the way over. You’ve might have seen it, Darkest Hour with Gary Oldman playing the wonderful part of Sir Winston Churchill. In the closing credits, there was a quote:

“SUCCESS IS NOT FINAL. FAILURE IS NOT FATAL. THE COURAGE TO CONTINUE IS WHAT COUNTS.”

I thought about the second part of that quote, the courage to continue.

I believe this year you have to have a word that defines your mindset. You have to have a word that even when things aren’t going right or when things are going right, this is what you come back to as your True North.

For me, this year the word is invincible. For you, the word could be abundance. It could be a courageous, it could be empowered. It could be self-love. It could be tenacious. Whatever it is, you have to pick a word, not just, “Oh, I’m going to be positive this year.” Too broad, too vague. You have to be really clear on what the word is. So when things are going right, it propels you forward. And when things aren’t going great, it pushes you through.

What’s the word for you? The one word you can live moment by moment, minute by minute, hour by hour. What’s that word that keeps on bringing you back to your True North when you start to drift off, when you start to lose a little bit of focus, it brings you back.

Think about what the word is for you, that’s going to help you to endure in 2020.
