THE POWER OF WORK RHYTHM
On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your start to 2020?
Was it a 5, a 7 or a 9 or more? For me, I am giving myself a solid 8! It has been a fast start with some wonderful successes; some great opportunities and some positive progress on key projects. It is not a 10 because I had an expectation that I would have completed a couple of key projects by now.
The reason I ask this question is here we are with nearly three months of 2020 completed and I believe it’s a great time to reflect on what is working for you and how you are operating as a Leader. Are you in your working rhythm, a weekly routine and have established some progressive daily rituals?
Over the past 24 years I have noticed the Leaders who achieve the most, accomplish great success and accelerate their progress are the ones who have discovered their rhythm, what works for them as a daily ritual, have a weekly focus and work towards a monthly set of key goals.
What works for me is to have one key goal in these four areas …
- Personal
- Professional
- Physical
- Profitable
I then have four key milestones I want to accomplish in the week built around these four areas. Which gives me the focus to create my three daily objectives. What underpins all of this, are some key daily rituals which set up my mindset.
Currently my daily rituals are …
- Listen to a podcast
- Walk 10 kilometres
- Eat smaller healthy meals
- Take vitamins twice daily
- Contact five key clients
- Plan the next day
These rituals may not work for you, however if you don’t have rituals, objectives, milestones and goals in place you’re not in flow, with no control to establish your daily rhythm as a Leader. From my experience all you would then have is chaos, confusion and lack of control. How does that quote go …
