4. RITUALS FORM FUTURES

By Brooke Dorratt

I’m back with Real Estate professional Dean Yeo, for the fourth 90 second goal achievement tip.

Dean Yeo: Hi, everyone. It’s Dean Yeo. I’m with Keith. Now this one is rituals form futures. You talk a lot about this quote of yours.

Keith Abraham: I do. Here’s what I say, people create rituals and rituals form futures. Anybody who’s ever achieved anything in life has got some great habits, routines, and what I call rituals in their life.

Dean: What’s the difference between a ritual and a habit?

Keith: Amount of letters! It’s not that much really. I just call them rituals because it just seems like it’s something I need to do.

When I talk to someone about what their vision for the future is, and what the goal is they want to achieve, I then say to break it all the way down to what the daily rituals are you need to do. For example, I’ve been professionally speaking for the last 24 years, spoken at 100 conferences every year. 1.6 million people have seen me present. And people say, “How have you done that over such a long period of time?” Well, guess what? I contact seven people every day. That’s one of my business rituals, I contact seven people every day.

And so if it’s a health ritual, I walk 20,000 steps every day.

If it’s about energy, it’s take vitamins twice a day. I read for 15 minutes a day, whatever the ritual is that’s going to help you achieve what the goal is. Because in essence, I can’t control what’s going to happen in 90 days time, but I can control what I do today.

Once I get crystal clear goal with a plan on how to get there and I’m working my rituals, I let go of the goal and focus on today.

I CAN’T CONTROL WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN IN 90 DAYS TIME, BUT I CAN CONTROL WHAT I DO TODAY.
