5. BEAT PROCRASTINATION FOREVER

By Brooke Dorratt

I’m back with Real Estate professional Dean Yeo, for the fifth 90 second goal achievement tip.

Dean Yeo:  Hey everyone, it’s Dean. I’m with Keith on how you can beat procrastination forever.

Keith Abraham: Here’s what I can tell you about procrastination, it is the greatest robber of self-esteem. If you know you should do something and you don’t do it, it eats away at you. So what’s the greatest enhancer of self-esteem? Self-discipline. And that’s where the rituals come in.

One of the things I say to people is, if you want to beat procrastination forever, here’s a secret. Forget about finishing, focus all your energy on starting.

We often think, “Oh, I have to do so much to make this happen.” And hence, we don’t do anything. So what I suggest it to do the littlest, smallest thing possible—because the day you take the first step, you’re more inclined to take the next and the next and the next.

For example, if you’ve been procrastinating about cleaning out your wardrobe, don’t do it. I’m going to give you permission not to do it. Go to your sock drawer, open it up, find the sock that doesn’t have a friend and release it into the wild and you have started. You have started your wardrobe clean out.

Dean: That’s perfect.

Keith: Here’s the mantra to beat procrastination. Forget about perfection, focus on progress.

FORGET ABOUT PERFECTION, FOCUS ON PROGRESS.
