ARE WE UNDERGOING A GRATITUDE RESET?

ARE WE UNDERGOING A GRATITUDE RESET?

Over the past three weeks, I have spoken to more than 300 clients, presented 24 webcasts to over 10,000 people in 6 countries. In this time I have gained a few insights into how people are coping and what people are doing to conquer isolation. Some people have done amazing things, accomplished great goals and reconnected with people they had lost touch with, including the ones who live in their own home.

Everyone has been experiencing this differently. Some have battled as their businesses have struggled with the changes, however, the majority of my client’s businesses are still doing business; and for some, they are having a purple patch of success. I have been inspired and amazed at the resolve of people and in particular how people have taken on the message from one of my previous posts …

DON’T GO THROUGH THE CRISIS, GROWTH THROUGH THE CRISIS!

So in today’s post I wanted to share with you an insight and observation. I believe we are currently at the start of a Gratitude Reset! More and more people are growing to appreciate the simple things in life. They are starting to notice what they took for granted, or the things they got wound up about for not being perfect or didn’t fit into their life the way they wanted, it’s just not that important now.

I know for me, I was so particular about my travel … Is the flight on time? Will there be much traffic on the way to the venue? I don’t want to wait too long to eat at a certain restaurant because that didn’t fit my schedule … After being at home for a number of weeks now, I would welcome the opportunity to wait for a table at a restaurant.

I am noticing that people are becoming more appreciative of simple things and in the process are becoming more grateful for those moments, people and occasions they may have taken for granted. You see, if you cannot identify what you are grateful for, then this time of isolation, change and upheaval will have been lost on you and you may become one of those people who is still irritated when a waiter does not serve you quick enough, or when your coffee is not quite right or when you have to wait in line to check-in!

Share with me 5 things you are grateful for that haVE happened because of COVID-19.

Here are my 5 …

  1. I have had dinner with Kristine and my girls 6 out of 7 evenings of the week.
  2. I have had the chance to tick off quite a few jobs and projects that have been hanging around for way too long.
  3. I have had the chance to reinvent myself and my business so I am relevant for the next five years.
  4. I have learnt more, read more and become a student of my profession and craft again.
  5. I have reconnected personally with friends, colleagues and clients that I had drifted away from over the years.

What are you grateful for?
